Prof. Mackintosh was an invited participant (November 2014) in a WHO/Health Action International consultation on development of indicators to measure the public health impact of increasing local pharmaceutical production.  UNIDO, the UN agency which has worked for several years to support the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan for Africa, has used our research on the impact of local pharmaceutical production on rural medicines access as one indicator of potential health-industry synergy.
